Birdbird Among 115 Nominated for 94th Louisiana Derby

Birdbirdistheword makes his long awaited return to the Derby trail on March 10th. It is likely a full field of 14 will contest the Grade 2 Louisiana Derby at the Fair Grounds. Tentative plans call for Birdbird to ship to Fair Grounds from Palm Meadows about five days ahead of the race and the colt may work over the track in New Orleans.

Steve Haskin mentions Birdbird today in his weekly update, reporting on his three recent works, details of which are listed on the sidebar of this blog.

Louisiana Derby...first step on the way to Churchill...can't wait to see Birdbirdistheword make his 3YO debut. With a little racing luck he has a good chance to find the Winner's Circle at yet another Louisiana racetrack...Louisiana Downs...Delta Downs...and now Fair Grounds.

Can't wait for March 10! Long awaited return of Birdbirdistheword is now over...

Traveling to FG that morning for full day of racing - should be an outstanding card. Ready to accept my invitation to Winner's Circle when Birdbird runs to victory. 2 for 2 in Louisiana when I attend. Harrah's Juvenile (LaD) and Delta Jackpot (DeD) were both fantastic races.

Y'all come to New Orleans and "pass a good time" at the Fair Grounds!

I must say the lack of respect is just amazing. The DRF (repeated via ESPN) did their "Richest Day Draws From All Over" story on the Louisiana Derby .. yet not one mention of Birdbird!

Even Imawildandcrazyguy gets a mention for goodness sakes.

I hope you kick some butt on Saturday and remind folks that 1 of those 20 slots on May 5th is already taken.
