Victory Belongs to the Most Persevering

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little disppointed. I'll have lots more photos and video from the Louisiana Derby up on the site after I get home to my broadband connection; blogging with a dial up connection is not easy.

the usual deafening silence after our horse loses. hey, they avoid just giving u this stuff. "horses are humbling" (Richard Mandella). Bird gave a lot of negative body language on the photos in the blog. he was hardly into the race from out of the gate. toward the end with all his veering, speculate injury or severely rubber legged. hopefully he'll be back to race another day. too good a horse to throw in the towell after such a long layoff!

Oh Rapid, this is a fan blog. Don't be so cynical.

I am not giving up on BirdBird. Tough spot to come back to after his layoff, and I think next time he will be much more competitive. What's next for Bird...the poly?

I think The Illinois Derby would be a great spot for his next race. It is obvious he didn't like the deep surface at Fairgrounds so let's judge him by his next start. If he runs to his past form in his next race then I would start shopping for a Derby Hat!
